Employability
Our team is golden; they don’t work for Scherpenhuizen. They ARE Scherpenhuizen. We ensure engaged, healthy, and satisfied employees who become our ambassadors, thanks to the best facilities and development opportunities. This includes Dutch and English language courses for our temporary staff, leadership training, and other educational possibilities, our in-house gym, a vitality plan, a bike plan, SNF-certified accommodations for flexible workers, healthy options in the cafeteria, and daily free fruits and salads. We encourage collective participation in sports events.
Some short-term ambitions include launching our own Scherpenhuizen Academy, achieving zero accidents through our active safety policy, increasing the participation of 5% more employees in the bike plan for commuting, aiming for 60% healthy menu choices in the cafeteria, offering at least 5 internship positions each year for various study fields, and striving to become the best employer in North Brabant.
Operations
Our focus is on a flexible and reliable business operation for our processes and products, achieved through optimal resource utilization and minimal environmental impact. We actively seek opportunities for continuous development and innovation, actively involving our employees. The most brilliant ideas emerge through collaboration. Through the digitalization of our workflow, we saved the equivalent of 2 football fields’ worth of A4 sheets in the first phase of a major project last year! Moreover, fewer errors occur, data is more comprehensive, and fewer questions arise, enabling efficient work. Where paper cannot be replaced, we use 100% recycled paper.
By replacing outdated machinery, we were able to reduce both our energy consumption and labor intensity. Our accommodations are BREEAM outstanding certified, reflecting the sustainable performance of the building, sustainable management, and usage.
We never stand still. We are already engaged in further digitalization, optimizing inventory management, researching expanded use of sustainable energy, increasing the value of by-products, and working towards exclusively recyclable or minimal packaging where possible.
Supply Chain Partner
We are the enterprising and sustainable partner within the AGF sector through collaboration, innovation, and ownership. By being members of network groups in the agrifood sector, actively participating in these groups, and deeply engaging with our growers, customers, and suppliers, we achieve more together than individually.
Whenever possible, we collaborate with local entrepreneurs for non-AGF related products, exclusively work with certified staffing agencies, and focus on partnerships with sustainably connected growers and growers’ associations. This, in turn, leads to reduced crop protection and promotes adherence to the latest environmental and sustainability standards.
Society
We create value for current and future generations through responsible supply chain management, being a good employer, and sustainable business operations. We actively engage in sponsorship and education. For instance, we collaborate with various educational institutions by providing guest lectures and offering internship and graduation opportunities. We conduct tours and open house events, are members of the business association for the industrial park, maintain a structured partnership with the Food Bank, and sponsor sports clubs and children’s holiday camps, among others.
